Dr. DeMarco understands the stresses and anxiety that face all patients requiring invasive medical and dental procedures. At the Lanap & Implant Center of Pennsylvania, we believe it is important to alleviate as much patient uncertainty as possible by providing emotional support, continual reassuring words and the highest level of patient care possible. Dr. Demarco is available to be scheduled for IV sedation in both of our offices Montoursville and Collegeville. Dental anxiety is common and can affect people of any age and many of our patients are anxious dental patients. People having this affliction have come to find the expertise of our doctors as we are sympathetic to their situation and are able to provide the comfort our patients love within our offices. We are able to provide our patients anti-anxiety services within their dental treatments consisting of aromatherapy and reflexology. In our Wellness Center, we have acupuncture available by a licensed acupuncturist.
“I’d like to take a moment to greet and thank you in advance for this opportunity to let you know more about having IV Sedation with the Lanap & Implant Center of Pennsylvania. I strongly believe that the only way to deliver outstanding anesthesia care is to invest time into getting to know our patients and their needs. Our goal is to build a strong bond of understanding and trust with our patients. We are dedicated to making your journey through your dental procedure as positive as it can possibly be.”
Dr. DeMarco with his MASC a state of the art anesthesiology service handles all anesthesia services for our patients requiring IV sedation for their dental procedure in both our Collegeville and Montoursville Offices. Dr. Demarco‘s goal is to provide our patients with the best experience possible. To accomplish this, MASC works with you to take the fear out of “being put under.” Dr. DeMarco and his Nurse Anesthetists understand your fears and will guide you through the entire procedure, answering you questions and providing reassurance with compassion and respect.
Getting to know you makes all the difference, Dr. DeMarco takes the time to get to know you and your situation. Once your appointment is scheduled, he will conduct a phone consultation with you prior to your scheduled health procedure. Once he has obtained your medical and pre-op information, together you will discuss your anesthetic requirements and develop a plan. On the day of the procedure, he will review your pre-op information and make any adjustments necessary.
People have a range of reasons as to why they are overcome with anxiety at the dental office. Rest assured you are not alone in having dental anxiety. We treat each patient without judgement or “patient shaming.” We do caution that avoiding the dentist can result in dental disease getting worse, a greater need for emergency care or more complex treatment. This is where we here at the Lanap & Implant Center of Pennsylvania can help with our vast expertise and guide our patients though their complex treatments within our offices. We treat patients who have minimal to highly elevated anxiety on a daily basis.
We are able to offer our patients numerous anxiety relieving methods in addition to offering a dental relaxant or intravenous (IV) sedation. Oral anxiety relieving (anxiolytic) medications (such as Halcion) can be prescribed to help anxious patients relax. A short-acting, small, single dose is usually taken one hour before the dental appointment. Intravenous (IV) sedation is provided by our anesthesiologist Dr. Anthony DeMarco, this type of sedation involves receiving medication through a drip placed into a vein of the arm or hand.
At the Lanap & Implant Center we use aromatherapy which research shows has health benefits and reduces stress, agitation and anxiety. Along with easing stress, it helps boost feelings of relaxation. Aromatherapy is based on the usage of aromatic materials including essential oils and other aromas compounds.
When possible we are able to offer our patients reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medical practice involving the application of pressure to specific points on the feet, ears, and/or hands. This is done using thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques without the use of oil or lotion. Relaxation with the removal of stress. Enhanced circulation. Assists the body to normalize metabolism naturally. Complements all other healing modalities.
Reflexology has many health benefits such as relaxation, improvement of your nerve functions, increased blood circulation in your body, eliminating your body’s toxins, and boosting your metabolism & energy level among many other health advantages.
Acupuncture is another beneficial way to relieve stress in your body, before your treatment or after. It helps your immune system, restores homeostasis in the body, promotes muscle relaxation and helps with deceasing inflammation.
