Dr. David DiGiallorenzo

Hi, I’m Dr. D at the LANAP and Implant Center. I’m a third-generation dental specialist. My father was a prosthodontist, my father-in-law in oral surgery.

I really chose to get involved with dentistry because I had seen from childhood what an awesome profession it was. It kind of blends science and art into a profession. I’ve been practicing for about 25 years now. I limit my practice to periodontics and dental implantology and advanced reconstruction.

I love what I do. I wouldn’t do anything else. We’ve been extremely fortunate to serve patients from all 50 states, some other countries, and we really have developed at the LANAP and Implant Center an integrative approach to how we deliver care. When I say integrative, we have integrated options in therapy, including acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, Reiki, nutrition. So we’re really blending our oral health mechanism with overall health.

Our goal is to really look at the patient as a whole. Dentistry used to be so isolated, and what we understand over the last 20 years is that inflammation is the source of all disease in the human body. Dentistry has been a tremendous source of inflammation. And I think for many years, we spent a lot of time ignoring that fact and not treating people, or at least educating them that there is a direct correlation between inflammatory mediators that can be coming from the oral cavity and how it will affect different endocrine systems, organ systems, and meridian pathways throughout the body. So this is critical information, and we directed our focus of practice towards creating environments that can be as healthy as possible when we go towards reconstructive procedures and really nonreactive: reducing sensitivities, trying to stay as metal-free as we can, and delivering options that are quick, efficient, and predictable.

Dr. David DiGiallorenzo received his training at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis in the early 1990s. His training included prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, and advanced oral reconstructive techniques, including oral implantology. He is in private practice in Collegeville, PA and Montoursville, PA, focused on laser.

During dental school we got to do what is called a clinical rotations, which you basically go through different specialties for usually, it’s a matter of weeks, just to expose yourself to different field of dentistry. And as soon as I went ahead and do my perio rotation, and I fell in love with it.

I really enjoy what I do, and I think it’s a wonderful specialty. I am able to help my patients tremendously, and I think out of all the different dental specialty, periodontics is definitely the most diverse.

The most rewarding aspect is the interaction with patients and being able to make a difference in the patient’s smile, aesthetic function, and also to improve the life of the patient.
