HI. I'm Dr. David DiGiallorenzo, and I just wanted to address immediate total tooth replacement, sometimes referred to it as Teeth in a Day. There are many, many terms nationally that have been developed for providing a set of teeth which we can immediately function with. So, again, this is nothing new. We've been doing immediate total tooth replacement, whether it be a single tooth or a whole arch of teeth, for at least 25 years. The techniques really have not changed. Our principles that have guided us have always been driven by diagnosis first. What tools we use to diagnose have obviously improved over the years. We used to have to send our patients to hospitals to have their CAT scans. We can now do it in office because we have cone beams that are a routine part of our everyday practice.

Immediate total tooth replacement, or Teeth in a Day, as we would call it, can take up to three hours. Our goal is to utilize minimally invasive surgical intervention. Many times we can use a pinhole placement, where we don't even have to cut the gum. We can place the orthopedic inserts and install a beautiful, healthy set of functioning teeth the same day, but here's the caveat. Those are only the temporary set of teeth. Over four or five visits, eight weeks later, we would fabricate, begin the process of fabricating the final teeth, which are inserted.

So, there's a first set of teeth. I want patients to be clear about that, that the first set of teeth are a set of temporary teeth. They can be the finals, but you really wanna give your body the time to heal down, the tissues to heal, and some of the parameters on the bite to settle in, because you have to understand, many of the patients that we treat have not had an adequate occlusion. They've gone into disrepair and collapse. So, part of the therapeutic process is to allow the musculature, the sacrum, the spine, the cervical spine, and the oral cavity to adjust to this new position. Because it has been deficient for so many years, rushing into the final teeth is not always a good option.
