The LANAP & Implant Center of Pennsylvania is delighted to announce that we will be offering BOTOX® in 2024. As we age, fine lines and wrinkles naturally appear on the face, creating a less than youthful appearance. BOTOX® is a safe, quick, and effective way to transform how your look. Whether your wrinkles or fine lines are formed due to a decrease in collagen or elastin production that occurs with the natural aging process or excessive sun exposure, the injectable products offered at The Lanap & Implant Center of Pennsylvania can smooth away fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.
BOTOX® is a purified form of the naturally occurring toxin, botulinum toxin. It works as a neuromuscular inhibitor for targeted muscles in the face, minimizing and preventing fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the brow and forehead. The top BOTOX® uses include treatment of wrinkles, fine lines (frown lines, glabellar lines, and crows feet) TMJ treatment and Botox delivers predictable results. Esthetically you look just like you, only with less noticeable facial wrinkles. The use of BOTOX® for TMJ/TMD pain targets the facial muscles responsible for clenching. It gives relief and relaxes the masseter muscles in your face over time. Treatment requires zero down time. You can return to your daily routine immediately.
Fine lines can be caused by a variety of things. Excessive facial expressions, pollution, dehydration, sun exposure, UV exposure, lack of sleep, lack of healthy nutrition, normal aging process. BOTOX® directly blocks the facial nerves that tells muscles to contract. The muscles become temporarily paralyzed. Effects normally begin to show 48 hours to
2 weeks after injection and last between 3-5 months.
If you suffer from TMJ/TMD you likely are experiencing one or more of the following:
- Jaw pain
- Popping or clicking when talking or chewing
- Limited ability to open or close the jaw
- Swelling in your face/neck and or shoulder pain
- Headaches/migraines/toothaches
- Earaches and/or ringing in the ears
- The most common reasons for TMJ/TMD are teeth grinding and/or clenching. Stress is also a common factor. B BOTOX® injections can be given in the following facial muscles: jaw, forehead, and temples. These injections help to relax the muscles which in turn decrease the clenching and grinding. The results typically last 3-4 months.
Again, BOTOX® is a safe, quick, and effective way to transform how you look – without going under the knife. While BOTOX® is quick and safe there are a few things to note before you come in for this treatment:
- Stop blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Aleve, Motrin), Vitamin E and fish oil 3 days
- Before procedure to avoid bruising
- Avoid alcohol 12 to 24 hours before procedure
- Do not drink coffee/caffeine right before procedure
- Avoid topical skincare products (retin-a, retinols, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid). These products can cause bruising.
General recovery from treatment:
- Do not lay down for 4 hours following treatment – this prevents the Botox from spreading to unwanted places
- Do not perform any strenuous activities for 24 hours following treatment. This includes: lifting heavy, exercise, straining your body to the point your facial muscles contort
- Results can show between 4 days to 2 weeks
- Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours
- Avoid consuming excessive amounts of alcohol or salt to avoid swelling
